3rd January 2022 | Apple News, Rounds Ups
Apple recently announced Self Service Repair, which will provide access to Apple’s genuine parts and tools to customers who are comfortable completing their own repairs. Self Service Repair will be available first for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 lineups, and will soon be followed by Mac computers equipped with M1 chips. It will be available in the United States early next year and will expand to additional countries throughout 2022. Customers will be joining over 5,000 Apple Authorised Service Providers (AASPs) and 2,800 Independent Repair Providers in having access to these parts, tools, and manuals.
The program's initial phase will concentrate on the most commonly serviced modules, such as the iPhone display, battery, and camera. Additional repair capabilities will be available later next year.
It is critical that a customer first review the Repair Manual to ensure that they can safely perform a repair. The customer will then use the Apple Self Service Repair Online Store to place an order for Apple genuine parts and tools. Customers who return their used parts for recycling after the repair will receive credit toward their purchase.
The new store will stock over 200 individual parts and tools, allowing customers to complete the most common iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 repairs.
Individual technicians with the knowledge and experience to repair electronic devices are encouraged to use Self Service Repair. For the vast majority of customers, going to a professional repair provider with certified technicians who use genuine Apple parts is the most secure and dependable way to get a repair.
